Premium 1911s may be our specialty, but the high price of admission often rules them out when one is shopping for a new handgun.  Fortunately, there has never been a better time to consider a production class 1911.  Prices have remained quite reasonable, while the number of configurations offered has grown considerably.

Features which once cost hundreds of dollars can now be found on many of the entry-priced guns. This, coupled with the fact that there are no less that a half-dozen manufacturers in this segment, means that it is truly a buyer's market.  Some of our favorite "business guns" come from Colt, Kimber, and Springfield Armory.

While we do not routinely stock significant numbers of production-class 1911 pistols, we can normally locate specific models to meet your needs.  If you would like to learn more about any of the models from these manufacturers, please visit their respective web sites by clicking on the appropriate graphic, below.  Should you then wish to place an order with P&T, please contact us for a consultation.

Colt's Patent Fire Arms Company (Colt)

"If it isn't a Colt, it's just a copy."  The slogan may be dated, but there can be no doubt that this Hartford-based legend is still producing some excellent 1911 pistols, to include the 1991 Series 80, the Defender and the Colt Custom Shop models, such as the current Series 70 reissue model.

Kimber America

Kimber has built a reputation as a leader in the 1911 business by offering many custom features in a production-priced gun.  Tighter tolerances, more features, and a wide variety of available models makes Kimber the one to beat for an entry-level 1911.

Springfield Armory

The "Oldest Name in American Firearms" has long been known for their renowned M1A rifles, and is now a major player in the 1911 market as well.  Springfield offers solidly-built pistols with many custom features (the "Loaded" models) to suit almost any budget.
